Carlingford and Cooley Peninsula Walks

There are 10 walks in all

1. King Johns Castle Walk : 4.5 kms:  Time 1+ hrs. A short walk around the village of Carlingford, suitable for families with younger children although if you are pushing a buggy keep to the tarmac roads and avoid the grassy parts at the end

3. Barnavave Loop: 13kms: Time 4 hrs.  This walk is an outstanding view point with an abandoned famine village  last occupied in the 1800′s on the decent.

4. Commons National Loop Walk: 3.4 kms: Time 1+ hrs. This short National Loop Walk will take you away from the town and give you a flavour of the open mountain sides. Suitable for families and children on foot but take care on the narrow roads as you leave and return to the town.

5.Grange Loop: 6+kms: Time 2 hrs. This rural loop walk gives a quiet flavour of some aspects of the heritage of the Cooley Peninsula. It is mostly dry underfoot so a pair of shoes will suffice. The lane through the field is uneven in places with tree roots.
